ABOUT US

Our Mission

We seek to move communities toward a more balanced, sustainable relationship with the environment. We support and invest in innovative organizations that promote the better use of natural resources, preserve biological diversity, and enhance the health of humanity. We support and collaborate with those who serve as catalysts and conveners to leverage our impact and accomplish our goals.

Our Values

The Betsy and Jesse Fink Family Foundation upholds a strong belief in people and the power of community. Our vision of long-term healthy communities involves the health of people, land, and society. Our investments target social entrepreneurs and the future generations of leaders in key funding areas: sustainable food systems, biodiversity, and climate resiliency. We partner with organizations we believe will be catalytic in their activities by providing seed funding for initiatives that could scale or are replicable. The team also provides venture funding with these organizations or others that inspire change in our local communities.

Betsy Fink
Betsy has spent the past twenty years working on issues at the intersection of the environment, food systems, and resilience. In 2006, Betsy established Millstone Farm in Wilton, CT with a vision of vibrant, healthful communities united through wholesome, delicious, and culturally significant foods. She worked with local restaurants and markets to rebuild a regional food system and created a framework to explore the link between biodiversity and sustainable food systems. Betsy was the founding funder and board member of the Wholesome Wave Foundation and a board member of the American Farmland Trust.

Betsy has spearheaded the Foundation’s work on biodiversity and environmental restoration. Over the past two decades, Betsy has collaborated with national and local organizations to catalyze work in species and habitat conservation, wildlife research and monitoring, sustainable land management, and environmental education and mentoring. Currently, Betsy is focused on protecting and enhancing biodiversity on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. A highlight of this work includes developing the Martha’s Vineyard Atlas of Life in partnership with BiodiversityWorks.

Previous to her work as a philanthropist, Betsy held management positions at both Prodigy and Priceline, specializing in technical project management. Betsy graduated from the State University of New York’s College of Environmental Science and Forestry, where she and Jesse first met, and did graduate work in ecological restoration.

Jesse Fink
Jesse is an impact investor who has dedicated the past two decades to working on solutions to climate change and other environmental issues. Jesse takes an integrated systems approach and believes that change comes from enabling entrepreneurial leaders. Technology innovation, business model innovation, human capital, and documentary films are all tools Jesse deploys in his pursuit of Impact. Jesse began his business career as a forest and land manager for Georgia-Pacific and later held marketing and operations management roles at Citicorp and CUC International. He then joined Jay Walker as Chief Operating Officer at Walker Digital where he co-created and became founding Chief Operating Officer of Priceline. Upon leaving Priceline in 1999, Jesse and Betsy became pioneers in the field of impact investing, providing funding and strategic advice to mission-driven entrepreneurs. In 2006, Jesse co-founded MissionPoint Capital Partners, a private investment firm focused on financing the transition to a low-carbon economy. Subsequently, Jesse co-founded MissionPoint Partners in 2014 to guide other families and foundations in their pursuit of Impact. MissionPoint Partners incubated ReFED, a non-profit focused on accelerating solutions to food waste, where Jesse served as founder and inaugural board chair. With a goal to democratize Impact, MissionPoint Partners co-founded CapShift, a mission-driven platform to enable the trillion dollars of U.S. charitable assets to access a broad array of impact investment opportunities. Jesse contributed his writing to Moral Ground: Ethical Action for a Planet in Peril and has been featured as a guest speaker on the Journey to Impact Podcast.
